M for Monique Lhuillier

If it's a wedding dress this season then it should be out of Monique Lhuillier's Spring 2013 bridal collection. I've added a couple of dresses below out of the collection, my heart flutters instantly out of happiness every time I take a look at one of them.
A very peaceful and pure collection that is a continuation to the 2012 bridal collection line, with the same yet magnificent ethereal feel. A magical collection that stems out of lace, tulle, beading work and what I am recently very attracted to: bows.

If I were to be a bride of the 2013, then I believe i found my dress :)

Below are some of my favorite dresses from the 2013 Spring bridal collection.

fit flare with an embellished bow
A-line lace applique
lace A-line corset bodice
lace beading tulle drop waist skirt
ruched pleated mermaid
white princess bow and peplum

headdress fascination

I have developed a fascination towards headdresses and i owe that to the Turkish series Muhteşem Yüzyıl - Magnificient History or as it's known in the Arabic translated version 'Hareem El Sultan' - 'Sultan's Women'. Yes i wasn't sure about my feeling towards the headdress that Kim Kardashian wore to her wedding, but since i've been so attached to the series and looking into different headdress designs, i have managed to grow a liking towards the trend.

I'm still not sure where is the best place to wear headdresses to but i could think of a few places where they would look pure glam: a bride on her wedding reception (and if you're not that daring you can always wear it to the photoshoot prior to the reception..no harm looking extra vintage diva in your pics), bridal showers and parties, costume and themed parties and horse racing cups and events.
There is such a wide variety of headdresses; there are the vintage ones with delicate stones and rusty look, some fashion statement ones, others that are made out of fabric and can be attached to a veil (that's more bridal), and the simpler headdresses made out of elastic bands, flowers, etc...

Taking care of your heels 101

I know we walk in them and they get subjected to so many hard conditions on the road, while driving, breaking into a run for some weird reason, storing them..all the reasons to do your heels just and save them from breaking and looking like they have aged a million years. I might have discovered a shoe / heel obsession in me and i hate it if i buy expensive heels and lose them before their time because i couldn't take care of them. If you were someone like me and have such a close relationship to the heels and shoes you wear, do take the below steps seriously..they do help (i still have a pair in their shoe box because i'm afraid i'd ruin their heels if i wear them..they've been sitting in their box for 7 months)

Living in the UAE added to my 'keep your heels safe for a longer period experience' I owe the desert a thanks :)

1. When getting ready and leaving home, restrain from wearing your heels. Wear flops or flat shoes instead and change into your heels at your desired destination. A lot of buildings and areas in the UAE have sandy roads and areas under the residential units; you don't want to sand your heels as soon as you leave your home.

2. Always have flat shoes with you. Thanks to some really innovative designers, we now have foldable and rollable flats that get tucked into bags so easy. These are a must in every wardrobe if not every bag as well. It's not just comfort, it's keeping your heels in good shape as well.

3. Keep a fabric bag with you to put your heels in. Whether in your car, at the office or even in your bag (you will have to hold a big purse for that), keep one with you to put your heels in once you change into flats. Not every street is designed for heels wear, so do yourself and your heels a favor and put those flats on.

4. When driving, take off your heels. Heels are not made for you to press on the petrol and brakes pedals, you will destroy the heel the more frequent you press.

5. Yes you will need to ask where you will be hanging out later tonight to manage the expectations of your feet and heels. Just like not all the streets are designed for heels, a lot of lounges, restaurants, places in the UAE are not designed for heels either. You don't want to walk into Nassimi with heels or even suede flats, don't go to an event that has its venue outdoor on grass with your limited edition 1k heels on; they won't last you the night.

The above tips may help the heels you own and spare their lives..at least for a longer period. I hope you find them helpful as much as I do! I will find the courage in me to wear  my '7 months sitting in the closet heels' :)
