Happy Feet

New obsession alert!! i'm developing my own fashion obsession syndrome and this time it's related to feet. I'm not gonna say much about it, i'm gonna let the pics speak for themselves.
Hello feet jewelry and accessories! Anklets gone a step further.

So as you can see..so many options to choose from and all of them hard to say no to! Where to wear them? I asked myself the same question :) They're not your usual everyday accessory, but you can definitely spice up your outfit with that small addition.
Beach day out or a pool party..check. Go with a beady one to match your beach outfit / bikini. A bachelorette or a girls party..also check. Pick a theme and have the jewelry ready to wear whether it was indoors or outdoors.
Outdoor lunch date..definitely go for it. You can spice up those flat flip flops and wear the anklets with them. Make sure you show them off! Wear a knee-length dress, a skirt or shorts.
And last but not least, there are the bridal feet jewelry. They're just really pretty. Unless your wedding is on the beach and you decide to go barefoot, you can wear them for the pre-wedding photo-shoot.

I found some fancy pieces on etsy.com. The pics above are of actual pieces that are being sold on etsy. Prices range according to piece.

Find yourself a reason, buy them and wear them!

*A pedicure is mandatory ;)

Toronto Film Fest Looks

Film festivals, classic red carpet, dresses, gowns, make up and hairdos..basically all good things come together.

Loved 2 looks, 2 ladies that charm in their own ways, both wearing Lebanese international fashion designers dresses.

Kristen Stewart in Zuhair Murad knee length dress. I love the overall look; dress, heels, makeup and hair that complement her dress. The dress gave her an elegant edge without being too dressy or much older. I'm so glad she wore pointed heels, this brought out Kristen's edge; wearing more of a rounded cut would have been preppy, more of a day look rather than night.
Loved the lipstick color; it complemented her skin tone, hair and dress.

Kristen Stewart in Zuhair Murad
My second Toronto film fest look goes to Keira Knightley; an all time favorite. I've always liked her red carpet appearances; that includes dresses and gowns, makeup and hairdos.
Can't go wrong with a black dress / gown. Keira looked gorgeous in Elie Saab Haute Couture for Anna Karenina premiere at the festival.
Loved the cut, shape, i even liked the belt although i'm not really fond of belted gowns. She kept her makeup and hairdo simple, pairing the dress with an effortless pair of earrings to complement her overall look. Loved the sided do and keeping her hair up; so she doesn't hide the delicate design of the dress at the shoulders.

Keira Knightley in Elie Saab Haute Couture

I'm a fan of accessorizing, but both actresses kept their accessories minimal and very subtle, which was more than enough. Their looks didn't need any extra complimenting or any big pieces to show off.

August Ads

Happy September 1st! :)

August has been one long month; lots of work, Ramadan, Eid, Olympics..lots of events!
I came across 2 ads that I really liked that i've seen in August and wanted to share:

1. Visa's One perfect dive.
Keywords: Olympics London 2012, Visa, David Boudia, Burj Khalifa

I found it interesting because:
- I am very fascinated by Burj Khalifa
- Loved the concept and relating the dive to the burj..gave a sense of number (how many jumps David does per year) to the viewers
- Visa and its usual innovation, looking at the ad from an Olympics point of view; sponsoring the sports events
- The music
- Loved the videography and direction, and stripping the colors.

2. Galaxy's Ramadan ad (Arabic)
Galaxy, Mars
Impact BBDO, Egypt
Keywords: Galaxy, Ramadan, relationships

This was a funny spot, very unlike Galaxy and its dreamy melty serene ads. I believe it's built on the most basic insight of women eating chocolate to feel better. The ad suggests occasions where a women would get disappointed, reaches for Galaxy to feel better.

let's wait and see what ads September brings along!

M for Monique Lhuillier

If it's a wedding dress this season then it should be out of Monique Lhuillier's Spring 2013 bridal collection. I've added a couple of dresses below out of the collection, my heart flutters instantly out of happiness every time I take a look at one of them.
A very peaceful and pure collection that is a continuation to the 2012 bridal collection line, with the same yet magnificent ethereal feel. A magical collection that stems out of lace, tulle, beading work and what I am recently very attracted to: bows.

If I were to be a bride of the 2013, then I believe i found my dress :)

Below are some of my favorite dresses from the 2013 Spring bridal collection.

fit flare with an embellished bow
A-line lace applique
lace A-line corset bodice
lace beading tulle drop waist skirt
ruched pleated mermaid
white princess bow and peplum

headdress fascination

I have developed a fascination towards headdresses and i owe that to the Turkish series Muhteşem Yüzyıl - Magnificient History or as it's known in the Arabic translated version 'Hareem El Sultan' - 'Sultan's Women'. Yes i wasn't sure about my feeling towards the headdress that Kim Kardashian wore to her wedding, but since i've been so attached to the series and looking into different headdress designs, i have managed to grow a liking towards the trend.

I'm still not sure where is the best place to wear headdresses to but i could think of a few places where they would look pure glam: a bride on her wedding reception (and if you're not that daring you can always wear it to the photoshoot prior to the reception..no harm looking extra vintage diva in your pics), bridal showers and parties, costume and themed parties and horse racing cups and events.
There is such a wide variety of headdresses; there are the vintage ones with delicate stones and rusty look, some fashion statement ones, others that are made out of fabric and can be attached to a veil (that's more bridal), and the simpler headdresses made out of elastic bands, flowers, etc...

Taking care of your heels 101

I know we walk in them and they get subjected to so many hard conditions on the road, while driving, breaking into a run for some weird reason, storing them..all the reasons to do your heels just and save them from breaking and looking like they have aged a million years. I might have discovered a shoe / heel obsession in me and i hate it if i buy expensive heels and lose them before their time because i couldn't take care of them. If you were someone like me and have such a close relationship to the heels and shoes you wear, do take the below steps seriously..they do help (i still have a pair in their shoe box because i'm afraid i'd ruin their heels if i wear them..they've been sitting in their box for 7 months)

Living in the UAE added to my 'keep your heels safe for a longer period experience' I owe the desert a thanks :)

1. When getting ready and leaving home, restrain from wearing your heels. Wear flops or flat shoes instead and change into your heels at your desired destination. A lot of buildings and areas in the UAE have sandy roads and areas under the residential units; you don't want to sand your heels as soon as you leave your home.

2. Always have flat shoes with you. Thanks to some really innovative designers, we now have foldable and rollable flats that get tucked into bags so easy. These are a must in every wardrobe if not every bag as well. It's not just comfort, it's keeping your heels in good shape as well.

3. Keep a fabric bag with you to put your heels in. Whether in your car, at the office or even in your bag (you will have to hold a big purse for that), keep one with you to put your heels in once you change into flats. Not every street is designed for heels wear, so do yourself and your heels a favor and put those flats on.

4. When driving, take off your heels. Heels are not made for you to press on the petrol and brakes pedals, you will destroy the heel the more frequent you press.

5. Yes you will need to ask where you will be hanging out later tonight to manage the expectations of your feet and heels. Just like not all the streets are designed for heels, a lot of lounges, restaurants, places in the UAE are not designed for heels either. You don't want to walk into Nassimi with heels or even suede flats, don't go to an event that has its venue outdoor on grass with your limited edition 1k heels on; they won't last you the night.

The above tips may help the heels you own and spare their lives..at least for a longer period. I hope you find them helpful as much as I do! I will find the courage in me to wear  my '7 months sitting in the closet heels' :)

fashion @ the globes

A bit late, but i gotta share my favorites from the Golden Globes this year. A beautiful roll of dresses showed up on the red carpet and I already know what I like the most and what I didn't find appealing. Check out my hit and miss for the night.

One of my favorite dresses / looks for the night was dominated by Sofia Vergara. It's so natural with her. Blue, peacock, strapless, mermaid, Vera Wang..the key words for the night :)
Sofia Vergara in a custom Vera Wang
Second pick would be Mila Kunis in a black Dior gown, flowy and classy.

Mila Kunis in Dior
And my 3rd best pick for the night was Sarah Highland in Vintage Dolce & Gabbana. The combination of the lace, beige and black and the shape were definitely why i found the dress interesting.

Sarah Highland in vintage Dolce & Gabbana
More nice dresses at the Golden Globes:

Salma Hayek in a couture beaded Gucci

Kate Beckinsale in Roberto Cavalli

Jessica Biel in lace Elie Saab
This was such a peaceful dress worn by Jessica Biel, i felt like this is what a bride from the 20's would wear; lace, creamy colored, not too revealing (at least the top part :) ). True vintage.

Berenice Bejo in a strapless Gucci
Emma Stone in Lanvin
I truly appreciate Emma Stone's sense of fashion, although this was not one of the best dresses she was in (in my opinion), but her overall style and fashion risk management are quite amazing. In this dress, I feel she's very 'Volturi' like (yes, i'm very Twilight cultured).

Some of the dresses that i found interesting in some way or another:

Sarah Michelle Gellar in abstract Monique Lhuillier
This was one interesting piece, very artistic. Not Golden Globe red carpet material, very risky but the colors, the abstract theme on the dress is very strong and beautiful. It belongs to an art gallery, so it deserves its true recognition.
Georgina Chapman in Marchesa
A Grecian goddess dress, the flow of the dress makes me happy along with the beautiful golden detail. This dress was worn 4 months ago by Olivia Wilde, which also looked amazing on her (A popular pick!)

Heidi Klum in custom Calvin Klein
A very 'in the steps' of Emma Stone's Calvin Klein number last year, i like the dress' color, shape..does not feel like it's golden globe material. But the turquoise necklace is definitely a great addition.

Natalie Portman in custom made  Lanvin
I feel this could be a modern Geisha look.

Lea Michelle in Marchesa
And..Angelina Jolie ruled the red carpet looking so glamorous..

Angelina Jolie in Versace
Now for the misses..no personal issues whatsoever (except in the case of Kelly Osbourne..i hope she dyes her hair to anything but grey)
Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Couture
This dress reminds me of when i was young and we would grab a blanket and try and make a dress out of it..Sorry Charlize..Sorry Dior.
Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen
Nothing is appealing about this dress..material, box sleeves, the cut..I haven't seen the Fashion Police special for the Golden Globes, but I am hoping Joan Rivers had things to say about the above malfunction.

Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen
I think it's the Zac Posen that needs to be hated for the Golden Globes..again..the material..

Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann
Tilda Swinton in anything but a dress.

My last note is on Debra Messing's choice..Debra wore a black Monique Lhuillier dress that i felt looks similar to the Keira Knightley's dress by Vera Wang 2006

Debra Messing in Monique Lhuillier
2006 Keira Knightley in Vera Wang

I see a resemblance..somehow :)

Happy red carpet!
